The Canarian group Macaronesian Hotels & Resorts acquired last week the Miramar hotel in Puerto de la Cruz, in Tenerife, and projects a comprehensive renovation of the establishment, which will be renamed Atlantic Hills, to reposition the product, raise its category to four stars and add quality to the destination.

The accommodation has remained closed since 2019 and in its last stage it was exploited by the Elegance chain. The entire operation will involve total investment of more than eight million euros and it is planned that the works will be carried out throughout 2022, with the aim of reopening in December of this year.

The establishment, located in the Parque Taoro area, currently has 140 three-star rooms and stands on a plot of 10,000 square meters with large gardens.

Macaronesian also plans to include a wellness center in the installation’s renovation process and reposition this new product in the ‘adults only’ segment, as well as adapting it to all the latest trends in sustainability and digitization.

The company, whose accommodation establishments are associated with Ashotel, will carry out this comprehensive renovation within the framework of the Plan for Modernization and Improvement (PMM) II of Cross port, as it did with the previous establishment, the Atlantic Mirage Suites & Spa, which it also acquired and reopened completely renovated in 2018.

The new atlantic hills thus joins the portfolio of Macaronesian Hotels & Resorts –whose CEO is Jorge Marichal, president of Ashotel and Cehat– which currently has three 4-star establishments –Marylanza Suites & Spa (Playa de Las Américas), Playa Calera (Valle Gran Rey) and Atlantic Mirage Suites & Spa (Puerto de la Cruz)–, and a new 5-star hotel under construction in Los Cristianos –Tenerife Blue Village– which, together with four other complexes in Tenerife and La Gomera, will add a total of more than 1,000 rooms.
