The Government of the Canary Islands is committed to assessing the implementation of a health center in Los Abrigos. It does so by accepting an amendment to the Budgets for this year presented by Citizens (Cs). His spokesman in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Ricardo Fernández de la Puente, explains that such an amendment amounts to 80,000 euros and his counterpart in Granadilla de Abona, Adán García, celebrates that “finally a feasibility study will be prepared so that the center be a reality as soon as possible.

Having a peripheral medical office is a demand that the residents of Los Abrigos have raised for years, as Fernández de la Puente recalls. This amendment responds to this, which tries to “cover the medical needs of the almost 6,000 inhabitants that this nucleus of the municipality of Granadilla de Abona has.”

Adán García recalls that Ciudadanos requested, in 2017, that the municipal government urge the Ministry of Health to start up said medical office. “This is an issue that has always been used as an electoral promise and has never been fulfilled,” he adds.

The councilor maintains that the population of Los Abrigos “are disadvantaged in health matters compared to the people from Granada who live in other neighborhoods”, especially the older ones, “who are usually the usual patients and who have, on many occasions, with added difficulties of mobility”. The representative of the orange formation highlights that this Citizens amendment will allow “to comply with the criteria of accessibility and equity.”
