The House of Don Gregorio will house the study center and museum of the Pope of San Miguel

San Miguel de Abona uses its Potato Study Center and Museum. It will be located in the Casa de Don Gregorio, located on El Tapado street, in the town of El Roque, a historic building with traditional architecture in which the works to condition and equip it are finished. The municipal areas of Local Development and Agriculture, led by Lot García, endorse their commitment “to the primary sector and rural development.” The councilor announces that the new resource is included in this framework, which will contribute to “promoting a product that is part of our history and our way of life and that generates great economic activity in our municipality,” he added.

The Potato Study Center and Museum is in a position to host the celebration of any event related to the primary sector, such as fairs, conferences, talks, seminars on innovation and entrepreneurship, new technologies, rural sustainability and circular economy. in the agricultural subsector. This activity is possible by having, among its endowment, exhibition modules and computer and audiovisual equipment.

It should be noted that the House of Don Gregorio was the subject of a process of adaptation and improvement through the works that allowed the completion of the enclosure of the plot, as well as the construction of a pergola with a roof to a water for the protection of the activities carried out carried out abroad, in addition to the construction of corrals and orchards as well as the installation of photovoltaic panels for energy self-sufficiency in this municipal area.

These works were part of the project for the conditioning and equipping of this space, an action that had a cost of 100,000 euros, of which 80,000 euros were subsidized by the Rural Action Group (GAR) within the framework of aid from the European Leader program, of the Rural Development Program (PDR). The Sanmiguelero City Council completed the financing with 20,000 euros.
