Pedri González Acquires Historic Convent in Tenerife
Pedri González, the 22-year-old football star, is not only making waves on the pitch; he has also surprised many with his recent property acquisition that deepens his connection to the Canary Islands. He has purchased an old convent in Tegueste, Tenerife, valued at €2.5 million, which has already become popularly known as “Pedri’s Mansion.”
A Unique Historical Building
This property is far from a typical mansion. Dating back to 1943, it was owned by the Order of the Sisters of the Assumption for over 70 years. The acquisition was made through his company, Pedrineta SL, alongside his brother, signalling a project aimed at investment and the enhancement of local heritage.
The complex comprises three buildings set on almost 10,000 square metres of land. The main structure, featuring two floors and a basement, retains many features typical of a convent, including a library, numerous rooms, a large dining hall, and even an event space. The second building, constructed in 1982, incorporates elements of traditional Canarian architecture, complete with a landscaped courtyard that adds to the property’s appeal. This makes the estate a unique space with potential for tourism, culture, or community-oriented use.
Investing in Tegueste
The choice of this property is significant. Pedri has expressed a desire to invest in his hometown, close to the family business, within an environment that retains the rural flavour of Tenerife and boasts a rich cultural heritage. Tegueste is recognised as a Cultural Asset for its historical centre, which features landmarks such as the Church of San Marcos, the Casa del Prebendado Pacheco, and the Finca de los Zamorano. Additionally, the area has a notable archaeological legacy, with remnants in the Barranco del Agua de Dios, crucial for understanding the island’s indigenous history.
Future Prospects
While there has yet to be an official announcement regarding the use of the property, its location makes it ideal for conversion into a rural accommodation complex or cultural space. Situated midway between the historic centre of La Laguna and the coastline at Bajamar and Punta del Hidalgo, it is positioned within a prime tourist environment. “This purchase reaffirms his ties to the Canaries,” say sources close to the player.
This investment not only strengthens the business aspect of the FC Barcelona midfielder’s profile but also demonstrates his commitment to contributing to the development of his hometown.
Balancing Football and Heritage
As his sporting career continues to elevate him as a prominent figure in European football, Pedri’s strong attachment to Tegueste remains evident. The acquisition, beyond its financial implications, is seen as a gesture of dedication to his roots. In this way, “Pedri’s Mansion” becomes a symbol of belonging: a historical space that the young Canarian footballer aims to revitalise, showcasing that his international success does not distance him from his origins.
