Puerto de la Cruz is set to celebrate one of its most awaited occasions with a new edition of the Summer Carnival, taking place from 19th to 21st September. This year, the tourist city is bringing the festivities forward ahead of the International Winter Carnival with a vibrant programme filled with colour, joy, flavour, and freedom, under the motto: ¡Viva México!
Exciting Programme at Costa Martiánez and Playa Jardín
The Costa Martiánez Tourist Complex and Playa Jardín will host an extensive programme combining galas, festivals, concerts, and parades, reaffirming the carnival as a key event in the festive and tourist calendar of the Canary Islands.
For three days, Puerto de la Cruz will come alive with music, culture, and diversity, featuring a dynamic line-up that includes orchestras, DJs, drag artists, samba groups, and shows for audiences of all ages.
Key Events Highlighted
The heart of the carnival will be the Costa Martiánez Tourist Complex, which will welcome the Transgressive Gala on Friday, led by local singer, choreographer, and artistic director Wycho Torres, along with renowned drag artists from the archipelago.
Saturday will kick off with the Diversas Festival, hosted by famous drag artist Marcela Kaufmann and Iván Padrón, followed by the Grand Pachanga of the Carnival, a party featuring performances from Ni un pelo de Tonto, Boys Machine, and DJ Ubay Hernández.
Sunday, 21st September, will see the Summer Carnival culminate with an expansive celebration at Playa Jardín, starting at 12:00 with the Grand Parranda and Coso, featuring groups from the Puerto de la Cruz Carnival, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and La Palma, as well as samba groups and choreographic collectives from the municipality.
The music will continue until 20:00, with performances by DJs Luis de León, Alex Navarro, Laurentini, Dassierl, guitarist Gabo Siverio, and the Swing Latino Orchestra, ensuring a vibrant finale to a celebration that marks the end of summer with all the joy of carnival.
