Rosa Dávila states that “these grants are a clear commitment to equal opportunities and support for families on the island”
The Cabildo of Tenerife, through the Department of Education, has announced the opening of grant applications for early childhood education for children aged 0 to 3 years across the island. The aim is to facilitate the reconciliation of family and work life during the 2025/2026 academic year. The announcement, published today (Monday) in the Official Bulletin of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, includes an initial allocation of €1,350,000, which could be increased to €2,000,000 if necessary. Each grant will consist of a one-off payment of up to €800 per beneficiary.
The President of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, stated that “these grants are a clear commitment to equal opportunities and support for families on the island. With this initiative, we want to ensure that no one is left behind due to financial reasons, allowing all families to reconcile their work and personal lives with assurance. This measure reinforces our commitment to education from the earliest stages, as we know that investing in childhood is investing in the future of Tenerife. Furthermore, this assistance provides relief for many families who make significant efforts to manage the costs of early childhood education, and we want to support them on this journey.” She also noted that in the last application round, 2,034 submissions were received, representing a 36% increase compared to the previous year.
The Councillor for Employment and Education, Efraín Medina, added that “this initiative not only helps families directly but also fosters job creation in the educational sector and strengthens the network of nurseries on the island. Investing in early education is investing in a fairer social model, where reconciliation and real equal opportunities become a reality. These grants enable many mothers and fathers to re-enter the job market with greater peace of mind, knowing that their children are in quality care. It is a public policy that promotes well-being, social cohesion, and economic development.”
The Childcare Voucher will allow families to cover essential expenses such as registration, care, hygiene, meals, and school clothing, while also granting them the freedom to choose their childcare centre. Families with children enrolled in the first cycle of Early Childhood Education at centres authorised by the Department of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity, and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands will be eligible for this assistance. The family’s economic situation will be the primary criterion for assessment.
The application period will commence the day after the publication of the announcement extract in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and will conclude on 31 October 2025, inclusive.
Applications can be submitted in person, by booking an appointment through the online platform https://citaprevia.tenerife.es/citaprevia/cabildotenerife, or electronically.
