La Laguna Kicks Off the School Year with Over 1,800 Enrolled in Extracurricular Activities and Early Reception

Sergio Eiroa highlights that the Education Department is promoting the free programme ‘La Laguna Educa’, which provides 175 activity points across 27 public schools and 755 early reception spots to support work-life balance.

The City Council of La Laguna, through the Education Department, has launched the 2025-2026 academic year with the municipal programme ‘La Laguna Educa’. This initiative combines extracurricular activities and early reception services in public schools within the municipality. The free service aims to facilitate work-life balance while enhancing students’ educational experience.

Education Councillor Sergio Eiroa emphasised that, “this programme reflects the City Council’s commitment to public education and families, offering equal opportunities and ensuring our children have a complementary learning and social environment beyond the classroom.”

This year, the programme offers 175 activity points across 27 early years and primary schools, with proposals tailored to each educational stage. For early education, activities include psychomotor skills, music initiation, play with English, puppetry, storytelling, body expression, and dance. In primary education, offerings include homework support, English, contemporary dance, theatre, IT, and playful workshops.

The service also incorporates 755 early reception places in those schools that have requested them. Currently, 1,874 students are already registered, and activities in Secondary Education Institutes will commence on 6th October, with enrolment opening on 16th September via www.lalagunaeduca.es.

The programme’s development involves a team of over 130 professionals who support the schools in both morning and afternoon sessions, ensuring quality service and attention to the educational and social needs of the students.

Eiroa encourages all families in La Laguna to take advantage of this free resource and to participate in the activities. He highlights that, “their support is essential in continuing to build an educational community and reinforcing the role of public schools as a cornerstone of equality and social cohesion.”

With a municipal investment of €2.4 million over the past three years, the ‘La Laguna Educa’ programme has established itself as a key element of the City Council’s educational policy, focusing on work-life balance, family well-being, and the holistic development of students.
