Cabildo Implements Unique One-Way System on TF-113 (Jardina – Access to Decroly School) to Ensure Safety During Construction

The Insular Corporation and the Council Reach Agreement with Residents

From Thursday 11 September, the insular road TF-113 will operate in a one-way system downhill between kilometres 0+890 and 1+350 (access to Decroly School). This measure will remain in place until the completion of the works, estimated to finish at the end of October. The aim is to ensure road safety and minimise traffic disruption during the construction project promoted by E-Distribución Redes Digitales, S.L.U., which has been declared of general interest and has received all necessary approvals.

The Cabildo, alongside the La Laguna Council, reached this decision in consensus with local residents during a meeting held on Monday 8 September at the Jardina Citizens’ Centre. The meeting was attended by the Councillor for Roads, Dámaso Arteaga, along with La Laguna councillors Domingo Galván, Ángel Chinea, Moisés Afonso, and Adrián del Castillo, as well as local residents. The safety measures mandated by the Cabildo were discussed, alongside the technical difficulties of the work on the current road, and residents’ concerns regarding the duration of the construction and local mobility were listened to.

After examining the various alternatives, the Cabildo decided that implementing the one-way downhill system was the most appropriate option to reduce risks and facilitate traffic while the works are ongoing.

Furthermore, the contractor will strengthen its resources to accelerate the progress of the works and will have specific personnel on the road to ensure the safety of users.

Dámaso Arteaga emphasised that these measures reflect a responsible decision prioritising public safety while vital network improvements are undertaken. He expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the Council and the community, stating, “We will maintain continuous monitoring to adjust the measures if necessary.”
