Tenerife’s Shuttle Buses Reinstated for University Connections
Enhanced Accessibility for Students
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife (Titsa), has today reactivated shuttle buses connecting La Orotava and Costa Adeje with the University of La Laguna (ULL). Specifically, there are four routes: 611 (departing from Costa Adeje station), 605 (from La Orotava station), 606 (from Icod station), and 608 (from Mencey Bencomo square in Los Realejos). Some routes will operate with two daily services each way, while others will have one.
Significant Passenger Usage
Between January and June of this year, the four shuttle lines transported approximately 25,000 passengers, as detailed in a statement from the Cabildo de Tenerife.
Fostering Sustainable Transport
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, emphasised that the reintroduction of the university shuttle service “will enable thousands of students at the University of La Laguna to benefit from faster, more comfortable, and sustainable connections from various points around the island, reducing the reliance on private vehicles and helping to ease traffic congestion.” She noted that this service “works not in isolation, but as part of a broader strategy” between the Cabildo and the University of La Laguna, which also includes staggered entry times to campus and the promotion of car-sharing.
