SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –

More than 50% of the public entities of the Canary Islands have achieved, for the first time, outstanding scores in the Transparency Index (ITCanarias), since of the 43 autonomous entities, 10 have an ITCanarias of 10 points and 13 have obtained ratings higher than the 9 points

As reported by the Transparency Commissioner, the 43 public entities that make up the public sector dependent on the Canarian Government obtained an average score of 8.47 points in the last Transparency Index, improving more than a point and a half over the previous year; when the mean was 6.90.

As reported by the Transparency Commissioner, the most remarkable thing is that only two entities were below the five points (the Canarian Academy of Language and the Museum of Science and Technology of Las Palmas), when in the previous year twelve they had been below that level.

For the fifth consecutive year, the transparency portal of the Government of the Canary Islands increased the level of compliance with the obligations.

The ten transparency portals that have obtained a 10 in 2020 are: Promotur Turismo de Canarias, SA, Instituto Tecnológico de Canarias, SA (ITC), Sociedad para el Desarrollo Económico de Canarias, SA (SODECAN), Hoteles Escuela de Canarias, SA (HECANSA), Canary Foundation for the Promotion of Work (FUNCATRA), Canary Agency for University Quality and Educational Evaluation (ACCUEE), Gestión Del Medio Rural De Canarias, SAU (GMR CANARIAS), Canarian Tutelar Foundation for Social Action (FUCAS) , Public Entity Radiotelevisión Canaria (RTVC) and Viviendas Sociales e Infraestructuras de Canarias, SA (VISOCAN).

“Not only is it difficult to achieve scores higher than 7 points, but staying and continuing to improve is also difficult,” says Transparency Commissioner Daniel Cerdán. “That is why the recorded progression is highly valuable. The very analysis that they have to carry out each year to self-evaluate leads them to improve, as the figures show. Now the pending subjects of transparency are focused on the whole of the Canary Islands in the right of access to the questions that citizens ask, which cannot be answered with administrative silence, “he added.

The ITCanarias Index is the result of the evaluation made in the last five years by the Transparency Commissioner of the Canary Islands on 347 public entities, 706 private (subsidized with more than 60,000 euros per year) and 66 professional associations and chambers of commerce of the entire Canary Islands in the year 2020.
