The Roads Area of the Council starts tonight the works of rehabilitation of the southern highway in the sections of Chimiche, El Río, Las Maretas and Tajao, from kilometer 46.7 to 48.7, in the municipalities of Arico and Granadilla de Abona. It will only affect the direction towards Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in the strip that includes links 49 (Chimiche-El Río-Las Maretas) and 46 (Tajao-Complejo Ambiental).
The insular counselor of Roads, Enrique Arriaga, thanks the prudence and caution of drivers and remember that the works “advance an average of one kilometer each week, improving day by day the safety of this important Tenerife road.” He explains that the results are already palpable and, despite still missing the final layer, the improvement in comfort when driving has increased with the work carried out so far.
This week normality is resumed in the work, from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. from today to Friday. The Cabildo informs that the inconvenience to users is minimized due to the less fluidity of traffic during this period of time.
To keep the night circulation, Roads will enable detours. From tonight until Wednesday night, only the Chimiche-El Río-Las Maretas exit will close. For this reason, those vehicles that circulate in the direction of the capital of Tenerife and seek to access such centers will have to continue to the Tajao-Environmental Complex link to make a U-turn and return south.
Drivers who intend to join the highway from Las Maretas in the direction of Santa Cruz of Tenerife they will have to circulate towards the south until the connection of the Polígono Industrial de Granadilla to make the change of direction and drive towards the north.
Thursday night will also close on Tajao-Environmental Complex link, For this reason, vehicles that, in the direction of Santa Cruz, seek to access one of the two affected links must continue until exit 42, Villa de Arico-Abades, where they can make a U-turn to rejoin south.
Those who from Tajao want to join in the direction of Santa Cruz, must carry out the same operation as those who leave Chimiche, and must drive south to the Polígono Industrial de Granadilla, where they will make the change of direction.
These works are part of the TF-1 resurfacing plan which has been carried out since last April with an execution period of fourteen months.
