Endesa to Build a New Substation in Charco del Pino to Support Increased Electricity Demand
Endesa will construct a transformation centre in Charco del Pino to accommodate the rise in electricity consumption. This facility is expected to serve approximately 300 customers and will help prevent supply interruptions due to situations like reduced efficiency during peak demand, as experienced this summer.
Additionally, considering that Granadilla de Abona has experienced significant demographic growth in recent years, the municipal government has initiated efforts to expedite administrative processes, including the granting of licenses, to complete the project swiftly.
Collaboration with Local Authorities
Energy company technicians proposed to the City Council the transfer of land for the construction of this third transformation centre, located near the two existing centres in Los Llanos. The local authority has committed to reviewing this request.
Investments in Upgrading Infrastructure
Endesa, via e-distribution, is replacing 33 metal poles (12 already completed) and overhead conductors along the medium voltage line between Los Abrigos and El Médano, with an investment of €500,000. Moreover, it plans to invest €100,000 in upgrading underground medium voltage conductors and enhancing capacity in the urban area of El Médano, with ongoing works.
On another note, Endesa is seeking authorisation from the City Council to construct a new underground medium voltage line between La Jaquita, Ensenada Pelada, and El Médano, aiming to improve supply in that area with an investment of €600,000.
Projected Investments for the Year
The company plans to invest over €1.27 million in enhancement projects in the municipality this year
The councillor for Municipal Services and Works, Marcos Antonio Rodríguez, noted that “the meeting was very positive, as it allowed us to convey the concerns of local residents and, at the same time, gain first-hand insight into the actions the company intends to take to strengthen service provision.”
All these improvements to the electrical supply were discussed during a meeting held last Wednesday at the Granadilla de Abona City Hall, which included the participation of Marcos Rodríguez, councillor for Public Services and Works, Environment, and Beaches; María Candelaria Rodríguez, councillor for Security, Urban Planning, Procurement, and Animal Welfare; and e-distribution technicians Ángeles Durán and Moisés Hernández.
Importance of Quality Supply
In a similar vein, the Urban Planning councillor, Candelaria Rodríguez, emphasised that “the quality of electrical supply is vital for the urban and economic development of Granadilla de Abona. We appreciate Endesa’s willingness to continue working on improvements that directly impact the well-being of residents.”
