The area of El Bloque, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is flying the yellow flag this Tuesday, which allows swimming, due to the presence of an oil slick on the surface.
On Monday, Civil Protection raised the red flag at the request of lifeguards after detecting the presence of debris from the seabed on the water’s surface.
This situation, the Santa Cruz Town Hall states in a communiqué, “can occur” in this location due to the seabed and the weather conditions of recent days, which necessitates a temporary warning against swimming for safety and health reasons.
However, the bathing area of El Bloque is today “fully operational”.
In any case, as part of the routine actions, the Environmental Sustainability and Health Department of the City Council collected various water samples yesterday, which were sent to the Health Inspection and Laboratory Service of the Tenerife Health Area of the Canary Health Service.
As for the bathing area of Los Charcos, in Valleseco, adjacent to El Bloque, the Santa Cruz Town Hall emphasizes that it has been flying the green flag since Monday afternoon, meaning it is open to public use without any restrictions.
