Two Arrested for Attempting to Leave Tenerife with Fake Documentation

The National Police have arrested two individuals at the departure terminal of Tenerife South Airport as they attempted to leave the island using false documentation.

A police note states that the first detainee was of Algerian nationality and intended to travel to Ireland. When identifying himself to the border control agents, he presented a French identity card, which was verified and found to be false, leading to his arrest for an alleged offence of document falsification.

The other detainee, a Georgian national, identified himself with an Irish identity card, which was the destination he intended to travel to. The agents, after carrying out the necessary checks, similarly determined that this document was also false, resulting in his arrest.

The agents of the National Police proceeded to open police proceedings, as well as initiate an administrative expulsion file, and all actions taken were referred to the competent judicial authority.
