The Guardia Civil of Fuerteventura, as part of the Praktiker operation, detained a minor on 18 July 2025, suspected of two counts of severe injury that occurred in the town of Costa Calma, in the municipality of Pájara. The victims are two women who were staying in hotel complexes in the area.
The investigation, carried out by the Gran Tarajal Judicial Police Team, in collaboration with agents from the Main Post of Morrojable, was initiated following an attack on a woman on 23 June 2025.
The victim was assaulted inside her hotel room in southern Fuerteventura, sustaining severe injuries to her head, hands, and arms. She was urgently taken to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura for medical attention.
This incident caused significant public alarm, further fuelled by messages the victim later posted on her social media.
During the initial proceedings, investigators analysed footage from the area’s security cameras and cross-referenced information with hotel staff, guests who were present at the same time, residents, and employees of nearby businesses. They also checked for any prior occurrences and potential links to similar incidents.
The analysis of the recordings helped connect this initial assault to another similar incident that took place on 16 December 2024, where another woman was attacked inside her hotel room, also in Costa Calma and just a short distance from the first location. In both cases, an identical modus operandi was detected.
After carefully comparing the footage, the agents concluded that the same individual had entered both rooms and inflicted severe injuries on the women inside. With this information, the investigation focused on a minor who matched the description obtained. Under surveillance, sufficient evidence was gathered to request the Juvenile Court of Las Palmas for permission to search his home.
On 18 July 2025, with a judicial order, a search was conducted at the suspect’s residence. During the operation, clothing that he had allegedly worn during both incidents was recovered, along with various items possibly related to the assaults. Mobile devices were also seized for analysis to fully clarify the facts.
Ultimately, the minor was arrested and placed at the disposal of the Los Palmas Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office, which ordered his admission to the Tabares Juvenile Centre, where he will remain under the relevant judicial measures.
