A 44-year-old woman was rescued on Monday by the GES helicopter, displaying symptoms of moderate incomplete drowning in the vicinity of the natural pool at Isla Cangrejo, in the municipality of Santiago del Teide (Tenerife), as reported by 1-1-2 Canarias.
The incident occurred around 16:12, when the Emergency Coordination Centre and Security (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Canary Islands government received several calls reporting that a person was in distress in the sea in that area of the Tenerife coast.
People present at the location threw a float to the affected individual. Subsequently, rescuers from the GES helicopter, which was activated and dispatched to the scene, descended from the aircraft, proceeded with the rescue, and hoisted her to the helicopter to evacuate her to the football field in Playa Santiago, which had been set up by the Local Police, who participated in the emergency response deployed along the coast.
Once on land, personnel from the SUC assessed and assisted the affected individual who, at the initial moment of assistance, showed symptoms of moderate incomplete drowning, without complications, and was transferred by ambulance to Hospiten Sur University Hospital.
