The Loro Parque Group is firmly committed to sustainability, incorporating environmental and social principles into all its activities. This initiative aligns directly with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Canary Islands Agenda 2030, clearly reflected in its daily operations thanks to the support of prestigious international certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, EMAS, and Biosphere Sustainable Lifestyle, among others.

One of the main areas of action for the group is sustainable consumption, through constant support for local and ecological products. By prioritising the acquisition of locally sourced products (Km 0), the Loro Parque Group significantly reduces its carbon footprint while strengthening the local economy by directly supporting Canarian producers.

Furthermore, the environmental commitment is demonstrated by using exclusively eco-friendly and biodegradable cleaning products, avoiding the employment of harmful chemicals for the environment.

Reducing plastics is another key objective. Through the “Bye Bye Plastic” project, the company has completely eliminated the use of single-use plastics in its restaurants, replacing them with reusable dishes and eliminating single-serving packages. Additionally, the emphasis on a circular economy is strengthened by specific policies for the reuse of containers, working closely with suppliers to reduce waste.

In terms of energy and water, Loro Parque is committed to renewable sources, ensuring that all electricity consumed is from sustainable sources. They also have their own clean energy generation infrastructure, including wind turbines in Telde, Arico, Poema del Mar, and ITER with a total capacity of 8 MW, as well as a photovoltaic park in Arico with an installed capacity of 11.4 MWp.

Efficient water management is also fundamental, implementing advanced technologies such as reverse osmosis for the production of fresh water from seawater and smart irrigation systems that use sensors to optimise water consumption to the maximum.

Education and awareness are essential pillars of the group’s social commitment. Loro Parque Foundation promotes various educational programmes aimed at raising awareness about the importance of environmental conservation, establishing academic collaborations with universities in Tenerife and Gran Canaria on multiple research projects.

This commitment also has a global dimension as the group actively participates in international networks such as WAZA and AIZA, contributing actively to the protection of global biodiversity and developing specific projects to protect endangered species.

Finally, the Loro Parque Group maintains a strong social commitment through charitable actions, including the responsible redistribution of food from its restaurants to NGOs that support vulnerable individuals, once again demonstrating its responsibility towards the community and the environment.
