The gala of the National Gastronomy Awards of DIARIO DE AVISOS, held this past Monday at the Theatre of El Sauzal, marks a historic milestone as it celebrates its 40th edition, making it the oldest awards given by a Spanish media outlet.
These recognitions, awarded by the DIARIO DE AVISOS Foundation, have become a national reference by honouring talent, dedication, effort, and commitment to sustainability and local produce.
In this edition, the jury, chaired by José Luis Conde, awarded the Manuel Iglesias prize to Miguel Navarro, born on the island of La Gomera, chef of the Es Fum restaurant (Palma de Mallorca), presented to him by Conde. The #ConsumeCanario award went to El Secreto de Chimiche (Granadilla de Abona), by chef Diana Marcelino, who received it from the hands of Eduardo García Cabello, Deputy Minister of the Primary Sector of the Government of the Canary Islands.
The director of the Repsol Guide, María Ritter, received the award for Best Promotion of Gastronomy, delivered to her by Carmen Pérez, CEO of the Development Society of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The award for Best Work in Wines went to the Tierra Fundida winery, represented by Loreto Pancorbo and Gabriel Morales, which was handed to them by the President of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila.
The General Director of the Jesuman Group, José Ignacio Hernández, presented the statue to José Raimundo Ynglada, from the ARAHY restaurant located in Madrid.
Jonathan Pérez, CEO of Hidramar Group, recognised the work of Niki Pavanelli at Il Bocconcino, awarded as Best International Restaurant.
Pedro Rodríguez Medina from Guirlache received the prize for Best Work in Pastry, presented to him by Manuel del Castillo, President of Cajasiete.
The director of RTVE in the Canary Islands, Francisca González Santana, handed the award for Best Gastronomy Television Programme to Javier Peña for Comerse el mundo.

Another award went to Rubén Cuesta of Kamezí (on the island of Lanzarote), who received it from the hands of the Mayor of El Sauzal, Mariano Pérez.
Finally, as a new initiative, the category of Ambassador of Canarian Gastronomy in the World was created, awarded to Caco Senante, who received it from the Vice-Minister of the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands, Alfonso Cabello.
TúTrebol was the main sponsor of the gala, which also had co-sponsors such as Promotur Turismo de Islas Canarias, GMR Canarias, Government of the Canary Islands, Cabildo of Tenerife, the municipalities of Adeje and El Sauzal, Development Society of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, House of Wine of Tenerife and Fundación Tenerife Rural, Tenerife Shipyards, Spring Hotels, Fundación Cajasiete-Pedro Modesto Campos and Excelsia Canarias.
The gala was broadcast last night by Atlántico Television, the private regional channel of the Canary Islands, responsible for the official coverage of the Foundation’s events. The replay will be today at 23:30, on Friday the 25th at 23:15, on Saturday the 26th at 23:30, and on Sunday at 23:30.
