SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –

In 2022, Aena will apply a new incentive to airlines operating at La Palma Airport in order to promote air traffic and promote the scheduling of routes and operations by airlines, as well as contribute to the recovery of the activity on the island, strongly affected by the eruption of the volcano.

The new incentive supposes the elimination of the infrastructures use fee or passenger fee on outbound flights that take place from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022, originating at La Palma Airport and destination to the Peninsula, the Balearic Islands or an international destination.

The incentive, which consists of companies receiving 100% reimbursement of the passenger fare on outbound flights, acts on the fare that the airlines transfer to passengers for the use of the infrastructure, which can help promote the activity at La Palma Airport.

This incentive complements the one that Aena has approved for the 2021-2022 winter season for the entire network and which acts on the landing rate and aims for airlines to recover routes and frequencies lost due to the pandemic. Thus, Aena offers an incentive for the recovery of operations when the 75% recovery threshold is exceeded on a monthly basis with respect to the prepandemic winter season.

All commercial operations of arrival passengers carried out from said percentage will be incentivized in the average monthly landing rate in the same percentage of their recovery, up to a maximum of 100% reimbursement. The recovery incentive is applied to the operations of Aena’s airports and is independent of the number of passengers transported.

For the purposes of the incentive for the recovery of operations, the winter season 2021-2022 is considered to comprise the months of November 2021 to March 2022.
