Tenerife Cabildo Conducts Tests at Pumping Stations Identified for Potential Sewage Discharges

The Insular Water Council of Tenerife will carry out tests this Thursday and Friday, involving controlled discharges of drinking water, as part of inspection work at the regional wastewater pumping stations of Adeje-Arona and their relief conduits.

Specifically, the tests will be conducted at the Wastewater Pumping Stations (EBAR) at Puerto, Las Vistas, Barranco de Troya, and Torviscas, as detailed by the Cabildo in a statement. During these tests, water that does not pose any risk of contamination will be used.

These are the stations that were reported last April for causing sewage discharges at several beaches in the south of the island, a claim that the Cabildo denied despite the dirty water and unpleasant odour in the area. Access was also not closed off.

According to the Cabildo, the regional wastewater pumping stations of Adeje-Arona are essential for the hydric sustainability of the south of the island and are part of actions to ensure the future of water supply in Tenerife.
