Two seriously injured and one moderately injured in a fire at an ‘occupied’ hotel in the south of Tenerife.

Two individuals have suffered severe burns, and one has experienced moderate smoke inhalation, as a result of the fire that broke out in an unused hotel facility in southern Tenerife early on Monday morning.

The Emergency Coordination and Security Centre 112 of the Government of the Canary Islands has reported that two men, one aged 56, received treatment for smoke inhalation and severe burns, and both have been transferred to the University Hospital of Candelaria.

A 30-year-old woman, who suffered moderate smoke inhalation, has also been taken to the same hospital.

Firefighters from the Tenerife Consortium extinguished the flames.

Two Heavy Urban Pumpers (BUP), a Special Rescue Unit (URE), as well as medical personnel were dispatched to the scene: two ambulances equipped for emergencies, one sanitised ambulance and one basic life support unit. Local Police and the Civil Guard also assisted in securing the area.

The fire occurred at approximately 3:38 am this Monday in a hotel facility on Avenida El Jable, in the Callao Salvaje area of Adeje. Specifically, it took place in the establishment known as Callao Sport, which has been illegally occupied by numerous people for several months, as reported by local press.

Personnel from the Canary Emergency Service attended to the three affected individuals at the scene before transporting them to the University Hospital of Candelaria.
