The PP will examine the impact of the new framework statute on the job stability of doctors.

The Popular Party (PP) has expressed its willingness to analyse the impact of the new framework statute for statutory health service personnel promoted by the Spanish Government, which, in the view of medical unions, generates uncertainty in aspects such as job stability.

PP representatives discussed the content of this statute in a meeting with spokespeople from the Spanish Confederation of Medical Unions (CESM Canarias) to hear firsthand the main concerns of the medical community both on the islands and nationally.

In the meeting, alongside Levy Cabrera and Isabel Mascareño, Secretary General of CESM Canarias and a member of CESM Tenerife, respectively, participated the spokesperson for the Popular group in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Luz Reverón; the regional deputy and spokesperson for the Popular Party in the Health Committee of the regional Chamber, Rebeca Paniagua; and the national PP deputy Juan Antonio Rojas.

During the meeting, union representatives conveyed their concerns regarding the new framework statute, understanding that it generates uncertainty in key areas such as job stability, voluntary mobility, and the professional development of medical personnel, as indicated by the PP in a statement.

From the Popular Party, both at the regional and national level, there has been a desire to thoroughly analyse the impact of this legislative proposal and to work to ensure that any modification of the regulatory framework is made with the consensus of healthcare professionals and with criteria aimed at real improvement of the public health system.

Luz Reverón highlighted that “it is essential to listen to the professionals, who are the ones supporting the healthcare system” and indicated that the Canary Islands PP will demand that reforms are made with their input while always seeking excellence and stability within the system.

For his part, national deputy Juan Antonio Rojas announced that he would raise the concerns expressed by the medical unions in Congress and reiterated that the Popular group will continue to advocate for a healthcare system centred on people, where the vocation and effort of professionals are respected.
