Cultura de La Laguna is scheduling a weekend of humour, folk, and musicals at the Teatro Leal. On Saturday, 12th July, the Canarian comedian Jorge Ávila will present his show This was not planned, where he will showcase his talent for improvisation and storytelling. On the same day, the Biscayan band Sotomonte will perform for the first time in Tenerife. Finally, on Sunday, 13th July, it will be the turn of Habemus Teatro with their play The stories of the genius, a family-friendly option.
On Saturday, 12th July, at 8:00 PM, Jorge Ávila will aim to elicit laughter from the audience with his latest comedic offering, This was not planned. A native of Fuerteventura, the young comedian and content creator has nearly 100,000 followers on social media. His stand-up comedy shows are characterised by his improvisational skills on stage and his charisma in portraying Canarian idiosyncrasies, opting to simulate everyday situations that resonate with the audience.
After that, Sotomonte will offer their first concert in Tenerife at 9:30 PM. The group combines sounds of folk, rock, and psychedelia from their own releases, including the albums From Prayer to the Battlefield (2021) and Decadence & Renaissance (2024). Among their recent notable performances is their show at the BBK Bilbao Music Legend Fest 2024. The band is featured in the monthly schedule of the Efecto Laguna cycle, which is promoted by Cultura de La Laguna through the Autonomous Organisation of Musical Activities (OAAM) and aims to enhance the cultural offering and introduce local and national musical groups to the public.
The cultural programme will conclude on Sunday, 13th July, with the company Habemus Teatro. At 5:00 PM, the cast will once again take to the stage of the cultural space in La Laguna, this time to perform the musical The stories of the genius, showcasing the amusing experiences of a character full of magic.
