Jamie Oliver’s Favourite Canary Island: “Home to Innovative Chefs and World-Class Wineries”
When talking about Canarian cuisine, few imagine the international reach that some of its chefs have achieved.

However, amidst volcanoes, sea and ravines, there is a restaurant that has not only elevated Canarian cooking to the highest level but has also dazzled one of the world’s most high-profile chefs, Jamie Oliver. The prestigious British chef dedicated an extensive feature to Tenerife in his magazine Jamie Magazine, distributed in over 50 countries and with an audience exceeding 150,000 readers.

In that article, he highlighted not only the beauty of the island but also its amazing culinary offerings. He asserted that beyond sun and beach tourism, Tenerife is a place where creative chefs and internationally acclaimed wineries thrive.

In that culinary journey across the island, Jamie Oliver did not hesitate to highlight one restaurant in particular: El Rincón de Juan Carlos. A place that has transitioned from being a well-kept secret in Los Gigantes to becoming one of the temples of haute cuisine in the Canaries.

Currently, the restaurant is located on the fifth floor of the Royal Hideaway Corales Beach Hotel in La Caleta de Adeje and offers an experience where innovation intertwines with the flavour of the land. Founded by brothers Juan Carlos and Jonathan Padrón, this restaurant started humbly, perfecting over two decades a proposal based on respect for local produce and a constant search for innovation.

That combination has earned them international recognition, including two Michelin Stars and three Repsol Suns.

The cuisine at El Rincón de Juan Carlos is a journey through Canarian flavours reinterpreted with technique and sensitivity. Among its dishes, ingredients such as local honeys, tropical fruits, artisan cheeses and characterful wines may appear, all of which were also praised by Jamie Oliver in his analysis of Tenerife.

The British chef especially celebrated the “wine revival” of the island, where innovative wineries are opening their doors to the public and winning awards with their unique wines, cultivated in volcanic soils and under the Atlantic sun.

What started as a mention in a prestigious magazine has been solidified with awards and acclaim. But what defines the Padrón brothers is their restlessness. With a brilliant trajectory and a clear philosophy, there is no doubt that El Rincón de Juan Carlos will remain a gastronomic reference both in the Canaries and beyond its borders.
