Green areas, calisthenics equipment or a space for pets. This is what the Department of Infrastructures has projected for the provision of a new park in the Santos ravine. It is about the space that follows the Carnival House and with which, according to the person in charge of the area, Dámaso Arteaga, “we intend to unite the street of San Sebastián with the Carnival House and the Galcerán bridge”. This new park will become an area that will generate more activity in the surroundings of the carnival space. “This year we have drawn in the budget about 20,000 euros to start the contracting of a project that will be of our own execution,” explained the mayor of Infrastructure.

Arteaga explained that, as a whole, his area will handle a budget of 21.8 million in 2022, which is about two million more than last year. Among those millions, 100,000 euros will be allocated to the drafting, construction management, and execution of the project with which it is intended to beautify the green ring that surrounds the Palmetum. “The idea is to turn this passage into a green corridor, paving the road, providing it with gardens and some kiosks or terraces to energize the area, which will be compatible with nightlife,” explained the mayor of Heritage. “At the moment we are still waiting for the Port Authority to transfer the land to us, something we hope it will do shortly,” he added.

Asked if it contemplates incorporating bathing platforms, he pointed out that “in the future, when the area, now contaminated, recovers, it could be valued.” And it is that, as Arteaga advanced, “in 2027 the concession that the Refinery has on the La Hondura dock ends, that would be the moment to recover that sheet of water for the city and begin to think of that part of the coastline as a bathing area ”.

The Infrastructure area also continues with projects already started such as the San Rafael and San Roque Cemetery, the completion of Imeldo Serís, the restitution of the Arcos de La Noria or the reform of the Sculpture Center of the García Sanabria Park.

The Santa Lastenia cemetery car park and the repair of the dike on the northeast breakwater of Las Teresitas beach are in the preparation phase.

To these interventions are added those projected in the Neighborhood Plan, for which 2.4 million are allocated, or those of the Green Zones and Open Spaces program, which with 1.9 million intends to put the La Gesta park into operation, reform the La Granja park square or create a new one on Robayna street.

Up to one million more euros will be allocated to Cultural Spaces and Outreach, a program that will focus on the completion of the work that is rehabilitating the Casa Mascareño or the placement of a sculpture that will remember the passage of Magellan through Santa Cruz, in addition to the recovery of the Viera and Clavijo. The rehabilitation of the Castillo de San Andrés and the execution of the Multifunctional Center in the Hacienda de Cubas, are also added.
