Delivery driver assaulted and over £100,000 stolen in Tenerife: police stunned by what lies behind the attack

Officers from the National Police have dismantled a criminal organisation comprised of six men who were involved in the robbery of cash delivery vans on the island of Tenerife. The operation culminated in the arrest of all group members, of which two have been remanded in custody.

The investigation was initiated following a call to 091 from a worker who reported being assaulted outside an industrial estate in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. According to the testimony, two individuals on a motorcycle attacked him and forced him to hand over the money he was carrying in his van, amounting to 113,500 euros.

During the investigation, officers managed to identify the six members of the group, who had a clearly defined division of roles. Their objective was to rob vans using violence and intimidation, with the intention of splitting the stolen money among themselves.

As part of the operation, two searches were conducted at residences, leading to the recovery of 55,975 euros in cash, as well as various high-value items that had been purchased by the perpetrators, a shipment of controlled substances, and three vehicles linked to the investigated incidents.

The investigation remains ongoing and has been entirely carried out by officers from the National Police in Tenerife.
