A boy of around 10 years old has been hospitalised with moderate head and abdominal injuries after falling onto the street from the balcony of a home in Arona (Tenerife), in an incident that is under investigation by the Civil Guard, as reported by the Canary Islands emergency services on Monday.
Emergency services were alerted to the scene on San Casiano Street in Arona at 16:38, having received a report that a child had fallen onto the public road from a balcony for reasons that are still unknown, the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (Cecoes) 112 has specified.
Staff from the local primary healthcare clinic near the incident site initially attended to the child until the arrival of three ambulances from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC).
The medical team from the SUC continued medical assistance and arranged for the urgent evacuation of the child to the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where he was admitted with moderate head and abdominal injuries, barring any complications.
The Local Police also assisted the emergency resources deployed to the scene, while the Civil Guard investigates the causes of the incident and has taken charge of the necessary proceedings.
