Binter schedules 16 flights following cancellations at Los Rodeos impacting 1,250 passengers

The Canary airline Binter has launched a special plan with 16 recovery flights between Sunday 6th and Monday 7th July to accommodate 1,250 passengers who were affected by cancellations due to adverse weather conditions at Tenerife North Airport.

On Sunday, the bad weather severely impacted airport operations, forcing the cancellation of 68 flights and diverting another 16 to Tenerife South, Gran Canaria, and Fuerteventura airports. Despite the situation, Binter managed to maintain 238 active operations throughout the day.

From the very start, the airline activated a protocol to assist affected passengers, aiming to minimise the inconvenience caused by the partial closure of the northern terminal.

To this end, national flights to Madrid and Murcia were rerouted from Tenerife South, providing ground transport between the two airports on the island. Additionally, Binter issued meal vouchers, facilitated ticket modifications at no extra cost, and assisted passengers in the various affected airports.

The company continues to assess the evolution of the situation and does not rule out scheduling new flights if demand requires it.

Within this special recovery programme, Binter has paid special attention to connections with the island of La Palma, which is currently celebrating its lustral festivals.

Los Rodeos Airport began to return to normal on Monday, following a day marked by fog and low cloud banks, which forced the suspension of operations throughout Sunday.
