The municipality of El Sauzal, in Tenerife, joins the international tribute to one of the most beloved comic characters: Mafalda. The unveiling of her sculpture will take place this Thursday, 26th June, at 20:00 hours at the Exterior of the El Sauzal Theatre.
The work, created by Argentine sculptor Pablo Irrgang, is a tribute to the iconic character created by Maestro Quino in 1964. Since then, Mafalda has become an icon of social criticism, feminism, and the defence of justice, with a relevant discourse that has transcended generations and borders.
With this addition, El Sauzal will host the 16th Mafalda sculpture in the world, the first in the Canary Islands and the fourth in Spain, joining an international network of cities that have already honoured the little thinker, such as Buenos Aires, Oviedo, or San Salvador.
This initiative sees the municipality supporting art with symbolic value and worldwide reach, thus reinforcing its cultural offering.
