The Regional Police have reported a man practising spearfishing on the north coast of Tenerife, for violating several current regulations, including exceeding the legal limit for catches fourfold.
The police force detailed in a statement that the man was detected by agents and upon exiting the water, he was identified and his catches were inspected, revealing he was carrying an amount above the legal limit. This excess represents a 300% infraction compared to the current regulations on recreational fishing.
It was also confirmed that the offender lacked the mandatory signalling buoy, an essential item that ensures the safety of the fisherman and other users in the marine environment.
The incidents were reported to the competent authority and a corresponding report was filed for breaches of regulations on recreational fishing and maritime safety.
