GF Hoteles Receives the Canary Islands Tourism Award for Sustainable Employment
GF Hoteles has been honoured with the Canary Islands Tourism Award in the Sustainable Employment category. This accolade recognises businesses and professionals in the tourism sector who have implemented improvements in quality, equality, safety, work-life balance, and occupational health. The awards ceremony took place on World Tourism Day on the island of La Palma. Victoria López, President of Grupo Fedola, accepted the award, accompanied by Ana Belén López, Vice President of Grupo Fedola, and Juan Carlos de León, Operations Director at GF Hoteles.
### A Commitment to Sustainability
During the event, Victoria López expressed her gratitude, saying, “I accept this award on behalf of the more than 1,200 employees who are part of GF Hoteles and who strive daily for a management approach to sustainability that values people. With this focus, we have grown and will continue to grow in the coming years.”
### Recognising Achievements in Employment Quality
Jéssica de León, the Canary Islands Government’s Minister of Tourism and Employment, emphasised that companies like GF Hoteles “debunk stereotypes with facts: local taxation, diversification, quality employment, equality, and sustainability.”
### People-Centric Strategy
The jury highlighted GF Hoteles’ strong commitment to the well-being of its personnel, consistently placing people at the heart of its business strategy. The company promotes initiatives that support work-life balance and improve working conditions. These include a summer camp for employees’ children, facilitating the reconciliation of family and professional life, and the integration of motorised carts in the housekeeping department, reducing physical effort and enhancing safety in daily tasks.
GF Hoteles has also launched an internal communication application to foster closeness and participation among all staff, alongside a digital platform offering specialised support services in balancing personal and work life.
### Continuous Training and Sustainable Commitment
In addition to these initiatives, GF Hoteles maintains a steadfast commitment to continuous training and internal promotion, convinced that the professional development of its team is key to the organisation’s success. This approach has established the company as a leader in creating sustainable, inclusive, and high-quality work environments within the Canary Islands tourism sector.
Mónica López, Vice President of Grupo Fedola, was also present at the gala to support this achievement alongside the management team of GF Hoteles. The chain, part of Grupo Fedola, operates five establishments in Tenerife and is distinguished by its service orientation, commitment to sustainability, and its focus on placing people at the centre of all its actions.
