Major Road Improvement Announced in Tenerife
Third Lane Project for TF-5 Kicks Off
The President of the Tenerife Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, has announced the commencement of the third lane project on the TF-5 road, specifically between Guamasa and Tenerife North Airport. She regards this development as “a decisive step to address one of the main mobility demands of the island of Tenerife.”
The initiative, which has been approved by the Government of the Canary Islands, has a budget of €66 million and is expected to take 35 months to complete. According to the Cabildo, over 116,000 vehicles travel this section daily, making this intervention a strategic move to alleviate long-standing traffic issues in the area.
Benefits for Mobility
Dávila further emphasised the positive impact this infrastructure will have: “The work will reduce travel times, enhance road safety, and improve and alleviate traffic conditions on the island of Tenerife.”
The project includes the widening of the road platform, improvements to drainage and intersections, as well as the construction of a new roundabout. Moreover, traffic will be maintained throughout the entire duration of the works, which will be carried out in phases to minimise disruption to daily journeys.
According to Dávila, “The coordination between the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo has been essential in unlocking a strategic project that had been pending for years, and now we are beginning to see results.”
