The Civil Guard has arrested a man in the municipality of Arico, in the south of Tenerife, for attempting to murder his girlfriend, leaving her seriously injured.
This was reported on Thursday by Cadena Ser and confirmed to EFE by sources from the law enforcement agency, who specified that the incident occurred at 4:00 PM on Wednesday in a residence within the aforementioned municipality.
The arrested individual is currently in custody at the main station in Granadilla de Abona, where he will be brought before a judge.
So far this year, two women have been murdered in the Canary Islands by their partners or ex-partners. Nationwide in Spain, as of 18 September, the Ministry of Equality has reported 27 fatalities due to gender-based violence.
