PP Demands Immediate Resignation of Equality Minister
Call for Accountability
The General Secretary of the People’s Party (PP), Miguel Tellado, has demanded the “immediate resignation” of the Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo, following issues reported last year concerning the data download from electronic control bracelets for offenders. This statement was made during the opening of the PP’s political season in Tenerife, where Tellado also revealed that the party has raised the matter with the European Commission due to a potential breach of “four community directives.”
Government Fails Victims
Tellado asserted, “This will not go unaddressed,” accusing the Spanish Government of failing the victims. He emphasised that they have left these individuals “vulnerable and unprotected.” He elaborated that the issues surrounding the control bracelets represent “the ‘yes means yes’ law 2.0,” asserting that harming women has become a routine — “a hallmark of this government under Pedro Sánchez.” He quipped, “Thank goodness it’s the most feminist government in history.”
Critique of Feminism
Tellado further criticised the government, stating, “They lack the shame; they are so incompetent that they bought the bracelets on AliExpress… What a great metaphor for their understanding of feminism — a feminism from AliExpress.” He concluded that “the only ending to this story can be one: the immediate resignation of Redondo for her negligence, incapacity, and incompetence.”
