Controversial Property Manager Arrested in Fuerteventura

Numerous Properties Evicted by Ez Property Solutions Mysteriously Caught Fire in Fuerteventura

Arrest of Roberto Cristian Pérez Aguilar

Agents from the Guardia Civil station in Gran Tarajal, Fuerteventura, were not surprised this week by the arrest of the manager of Ez Property Solutions, Roberto Cristian Pérez Aguilar. He faces allegations of coercion against his colleagues in the Granadilla de Abona area. According to sources from the Instituto Armado, officers in the municipality had to intervene in similar incidents that have been reported for months in Granadilla, highlighting an “aggressive” modus operandi by this eviction company towards residents of the buildings they operate in, regardless of whether they are squatters or not.

Mysterious House Fires

In this context, police sources explain that several occupied homes that Ez Property Solutions was attempting to evict caught fire “mysteriously.” The responsibility for these fires remains unclear, despite the evident suspicions of the authorities. This is not the first instance of a property mysteriously igniting following the manager’s visit. In June 2024, Cristian Pérez filmed himself in front of the headquarters of the Tenerife Tenants’ Union, an activist group with which he had previously encountered issues during evictions, stating that the venue needed “a bit of paint.” Shortly after, the premises were set ablaze, with activists pointing fingers at “fascist groups.”

Recent Developments

This week, Pérez was arrested by the Guardia Civil for alleged coercion and threats towards the officers, as well as for refusing to be identified. Alongside him, another employee of the company was apprehended for allegedly assaulting one of the agents, according to sources from the Benemérita. Pérez was released after being identified at the police station. Upon his release, he recorded a video dubbing the arresting officer a “sewer rat.” The Guardia Civil officers from the Granadilla station reported that Ez Property Solutions had attempted to contact civilians close to the arrested agents for information on their backgrounds, according to the mentioned sources.
