The meeting allowed for progress in the design of facilities that will expand the play area, enhance comfort, and add new shaded spaces for families.
The Town Hall of La Laguna, through its Municipal Services department, held a meeting with residents of San Bartolomé de Geneto to advance the design of a new children’s park in this suburban area. The initiative aims to respond to community demands and provide a safe, inclusive space for families to gather.
Fran Hernández, the Municipal Services Councillor, emphasised the importance of community involvement in such projects, stating, “We want every town and neighbourhood to have play areas designed with the input of local residents, becoming safe and pleasant meeting places for the entire community.”
The proposal includes the addition of new play modules suitable for various age groups, an expansion of the children’s area, and the installation of benches and additional trees to create more shade and comfort throughout the year. This will strengthen the network of children’s parks within the municipality, promoting quality environments for healthy recreation for the youngest residents.
Hernández further highlighted that “the future children’s park in Geneto will be a meeting point for families and an example of the type of municipality we advocate for—one with accessible, close infrastructure aimed at improving citizens’ quality of life.”
This initiative is part of the municipal plan to improve and expand children’s parks, intending to provide La Laguna’s neighbourhoods and villages with modern facilities tailored to current needs, thus reinforcing the network of public spaces dedicated to leisure and community interaction.
