Canary Islands Popular Party Calls for End to “Perverse Sánchezism”
The Canary Islands Popular Party (PP) has begun the new political term by demanding the end of the “perverse Sánchezism” and advocating for the “security and reconstruction of La Palma.” The event, held on the island of Tenerife, featured several prominent figures, including the party’s General Secretary, Miguel Tellado; the President of the PP in the Canaries, Manuel Domínguez; the General Secretary of the party in the archipelago, Poli Suárez; and the President of the PP in Tenerife, Lope Afonso.
Key Messages
In a statement, the party highlighted Domínguez’s remarks during the event, where he warned of the national political situation, asserting that “Sánchezism behaves like a wounded beast, staggering with the sole aim of survival,” and that its agony could “cause much more harm than it has done so far.” He also condemned “the violence during the recent cycling event, the Vuelta Ciclista a España, which left 22 officers injured,” and conveyed a “message of support to the State Security Forces.”
On a national level, the leader of the Canary PP emphasised the need for “decency to return to La Moncloa, and that the next president of Spain should be Alberto Núñez Feijóo,” claiming that the PSOE is “more lost than Pedro Sánchez’s brother searching for the performing arts office.”
Investment Delays
Regarding the Canary Islands specifically, Domínguez criticised “the central government’s treatment of the archipelago,” denouncing “delays in investments, failures in regional financing, and neglect in key areas such as immigration, coastal security, and the reconstruction of La Palma following the volcanic eruption.” He reminded attendees that the “€100 million promised has not yet arrived,” insisting that “if Sánchez’s government fails, the Canary Islands government is here to support the people of La Palma.”
He concluded his address by highlighting “the party’s readiness to face the current situation and achieve political change,” affirming that “we are eager for the end of perverse Sánchezism,” and underscoring that the PP is the only party capable of “reversing the situation thanks to our united, cohesive, strong, eager, and enthusiastic party.”
