New ‘Zona Racing Canarias’ Opens at Santa Cruz Casino
Official Inauguration
The Chief Executive Officer of Public Companies (Casinos of Tenerife), José Marrón, alongside the Vice President of the island institution, Lope Afonso, and various civil, military, sporting, and consular authorities, inaugurated the new “Zona Racing Canarias” at the Santa Cruz casino. This innovative sports facility dedicated to eSports features two professional rally simulators. According to José Marrón, the venue is designed specifically for motor enthusiasts. Furthermore, this new recreational offering places Casinos of Tenerife on the map within the exclusive realm of eSports.
Professional Systems
This experience utilises cutting-edge moving systems that provide sensations to users that they would not encounter in their own homes. Additionally, “Zona Racing Canarias” is integrated within the competitive sporting ecosystem of DIGALIX, a Barcelona-based company that organises national and international eSports championships in digital environments. José Marrón remarked that “the experience not only energises participants but also empowers them by competing with players from other regions.” These simulators represent the latest generation of technology, with yearly software updates ensuring that the racing stages in Tenerife and the other islands are as realistic as possible, delivering a unique experience to users.
Equality in Motorsport
Marrón emphasised that motorsport is one of the most egalitarian sports one could imagine. “At the wheels of a car, both men and women compete without any regulations other than those dictated by the championship.” He also expressed gratitude for the passion and enthusiasm of the motor community for this project, which seeks to provide alternative leisure options for the island of Tenerife.
Proud Support from the Motor Federation
Francisco Negrín, President of the Interinsular Motor Federation, expressed his pride in the motorsport enthusiasts and championships held in the Canaries, to which “Zona Racing” now adds a novel format and professional racing simulators.
Commitment from Local Authorities
Next, José Carlos Acha, the Third Vice President and Councillor for Culture and Sports of the Cabildo of Tenerife, acknowledged José Marrón’s commitment to culture since his arrival, first with the “Tunnel of Art” and now with a dedicated eSports space. The event concluded with remarks from Lope Afonso, the First Vice President and Councillor for Tourism, External Action, and Institutional Relations of the Cabildo of Tenerife, who thanked José Marrón for transforming this space into a reference point for the enjoyment of clients and the wider community. The Casinos of Tenerife have secured an exclusive agreement with DIGALIX for the Canarian environment. Thus, the first “Zona Racing Canarias” has been launched at the Santa Cruz casino, with future installations planned for the Taoro casino in Puerto de la Cruz and the Playa de las Américas casino in Adeje.
