Ángel Víctor Torres: “This is a concrete, effective and real measure against the void left by CC-PP, which has not delivered a single home promoted by its government in two years of legislature”
The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced today that the Ministry of Housing has notified thousands of illegal tourist flats to remove their online listings.
Canary Islands is the second region with the highest number of such flats, with 8,698 cases, accounting for 16.14% of the total in the country.
In total, Spain has detected 53,876 accommodations that have applied for the mandatory registration number but have not obtained it due to failing to meet legal requirements and are listed as revoked.
The Secretary General of the PSOE Canarias, Ángel Víctor Torres, has praised this measure as “concrete, effective and real, in contrast to the void represented by the Canary Islands Government (CC-PP) in housing matters.”
As Torres recalled yesterday at the Regional Committee, the government led by Clavijo has not delivered a single home from the projects launched in the two years they have been in power. The homes that have been delivered were promoted by the previous government headed by Torres.
The unlocking of these properties, which were intended for illegal tourist rentals, “will facilitate access to housing for thousands of young people and families in need on the islands,” Torres added. He also acknowledged that “this is a concrete action and not mere propaganda and empty promises, as we have come to expect from the current regional government,” he concluded.
