The Canary Sky Prepares for a Winter of Connectivity

Binter Expands Flight Network to the Mainland: Explore All Connections

A Strategic Hub

The Canary Islands are gearing up for a winter characterised by enhanced connectivity. As national travel regains momentum, Tenerife North Airport – Ciudad de La Laguna is establishing itself as a strategic node for those looking to connect the island with the mainland. Binter has already devised a schedule that promises to open new doors and strengthen existing links.

Over 412,000 Seats Available

During the winter season, Binter will offer passengers more than 412,000 direct external seats from Tenerife North. This includes two new routes to Seville and Badajoz, alongside the reinforcement of established connections with Vigo, Valencia, and Asturias. Miguel Ángel Suárez, the company’s Commercial, Marketing, and Communication Director, emphasised that this plan “will enhance Tenerife’s external connections with the Canarian way of flying, centred on passenger wellbeing.” He noted that the reception of the new routes has been very positive and is part of an expansion plan featuring a modern fleet.

Institutional Support

The initiative has received backing from the Cabildo of Tenerife. The Vice President and Tourism Councillor, Lope Afonso, highlighted that the mainland market is the second most significant for the island, stating that this programme represents “a tremendous opportunity for Tenerife.” Similarly, Dimple Melwani, Chief Executive of Tenerife Tourism, celebrated the reinforcement of routes and the extension of connections initiated during the summer, now solidified for winter. For her, the collaboration between the island institution and Binter reflects a joint commitment to air connectivity and the island’s tourist leadership.

New Destinations: Seville and Badajoz

From 1 December, Tenerife will feature direct flights to two new mainland destinations. Seville will have five weekly flights (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday), while Badajoz will be connected with two weekly flights on Mondays and Fridays. These additions enhance Tenerife’s presence in strategic regions of the mainland and diversify travel options for both residents and tourists choosing the Canary Islands as their destination.

Enhanced Connections

The winter schedule also brings an increase in frequencies for established routes. Valencia will have five weekly flights from 3 December, with a new Thursday connection added. Vigo will achieve daily flights from 4 December, incorporating links on Wednesdays and Fridays. Meanwhile, Asturias will feature five weekly flights starting from 27 October, with a new flight on Mondays.

Extension of Routes

Another strong point in Binter’s strategy is the year-round extension of routes launched in summer. Direct flights to Valladolid, San Sebastián, Granada, Pamplona, and Murcia will remain operational, thus ensuring greater stability in connectivity between the Canary Islands and the mainland. This move addresses the necessity to provide continuity in connections, preventing destinations from being limited solely to the summer season and consolidating Tenerife North as an airport with significant national projection.
