Tragedy Strikes as Migrant Dies After Arriving in El Hierro

A man who arrived on Saturday by cayuco in El Hierro and was evacuated that same day to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria in Tenerife due to severe hypothermia has tragically died, as confirmed by the hospital to EFE.

Arrival and Evacuation

The man reached El Hierro along with 63 others, arriving at the port of La Restinga under their own power.

Long Journey

Another individual was taken to the El Hierro hospital after the cayuco arrived on the island at 06:33, following a four-day journey from Nuadibú, Mauritania. The men on board the cayuco are from Mali, Senegal, Mauritania, Guinea Conakry, and Gambia.
