Discovering September in the Canary Islands

The Perfect Canary Island Beach for September: Idyllic, Quiet, and Ideal for Swimming

September is a favourite month for those looking to enjoy the Canary Islands without the summer crowds. With enviable weather, ideal sea temperatures, and lower prices than during peak season, the archipelago becomes a dream destination. If one has to choose where to lay their towel, one beach stands out for its unique atmosphere and blend of relaxation and fun.

### A Beach for Everyone

Across the Canary Islands, there are nearly 677 beaches, ranging from volcanic coves to vast stretches of golden sand. Each island has its own character: Tenerife leads with 168 beaches, followed by Gran Canaria with 134 and Lanzarote with 122. Fuerteventura is a paradise of fine sand with 67 beaches, while La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro offer more untouched and tranquil spots.

### The Ideal Month

Many consider autumn in the Canary Islands to be the best time to visit. The pleasant temperatures, still-warm sea, and lower tourist influx create perfect conditions for a getaway. It is the time when the summer heat begins to ease, and the beaches regain their calm. Furthermore, accommodation and flight prices are usually more competitive than in July and August, making September the ideal month for those seeking quality without overspending. Sunny days are paired with mild evenings, perfect for strolling along the promenades.

### Playa del Inglés: A Classic

When discussing a beach that meets all requirements, Playa del Inglés in Gran Canaria takes centre stage. This beach stretches for nearly three kilometres of golden sand and calm waters, framed by the spectacular Maspalomas Dunes Natural Reserve. Its southern location ensures sunshine almost every day of the year. Along its coastline, one can find family areas, spaces for sports such as beach volleyball and football, and quieter spots for those looking to unwind.

### Amenities and Facilities

The beach offers sunbed and umbrella rentals, showers, restrooms, beach bars, and a wide commercial avenue with restaurants, supermarkets, and shops. For those driving, there are nearby parking facilities, and it is also accessible by public transport. As one moves towards the Punta de Maspalomas, the beach becomes wilder, with surf spots and naturist zones adding to its diverse and cosmopolitan atmosphere. This contrast allows every visitor to find their ideal space, whether to enjoy family time, participate in water sports, or simply relax in the sun.

### A Complete Experience

With a length of 2.7 kilometres, Playa del Inglés is perfect for long walks by the sea. Its combination of comfort, safety, and natural scenery makes it a favourite choice for tourists and locals during September. Those who choose this beach not only enjoy the sea and sand, but also a range of leisure activities that include dining, nightlife, and outdoor pursuits. It is the perfect place for those seeking more than just a day on the beach.
