The instability in the structure and the heavy rainfall over the past few days have led to a partial collapse of the bridge on this road, which had been closed after the appearance of cracks a week ago, on this Palm Sunday morning.

Prior to the collapse of this section of the road connecting the Santa Catalina area to Plaza del Cristo, several municipal technicians, accompanied by the city’s mayor, Sandra Izquierdo, and the Local Police, visited the site to assess the deteriorating situation and implement new measures to ensure safety in the area.
Moments later, the northern side of the structure collapsed, creating a large sinkhole that not only caused significant damage to the road but also left several surrounding streets without drinking water or electricity supply.

Impact on Electrical and Water Supply
Specifically, until recovery works are initiated, the interruption of electricity and general water supply will affect residents on Fernández Ocampo, César Galán, Museo Casilda, and Transversal Teobaldo Power Alley over the coming hours.
Workers from the Municipal Works and Services Department have reinforced the perimeter fencing already installed at both access points to the bridge to prevent any dangerous situations that could affect residents and visitors.
The Tacoronte City Council will begin all necessary procedures on Monday to ensure the recovery of this vital location over the Granados ravine, in coordination with the Tenerife Cabildo and following the directives of the Council’s technical staff.
