The City Council of Garachico has closed the natural pools of El Caletón for high levels of the faecal bacteria E.coli.
This decision has been made following the results of routine samples taken on Monday, which showed values above the permitted levels.
The local authorities inform that a second sample has already been collected for further analysis and emphasise that, following the appropriate checks in the municipal sanitation system, there have been no discharges of sewage.
The Council apologises to users of this area of the northern coast for any inconvenience caused by the closure.
