The Cabildo de Tenerife, taking into account the evolution of weather conditions, will implement from 7:00 hours this Saturday preventive measures for forest fires of grade 2 in the municipalities on the northern slope of the island.

Meanwhile, in the municipalities on the southern slope, grade 3 measures will be maintained, as the insular institution specified in a press release.

This decision responds to the fact that municipalities with trade winds, where temperatures are milder and relative humidity has increased, have seen vegetation recover its water content, thus reducing the risk of forest fires. Therefore, grade 2 measures will be implemented in this area.

Conversely, in the southern-oriented municipalities, although the temperature has decreased, humidity remains very low, making it advisable to maintain grade 3 preventive measures.

Grade 2 Measures

In the municipalities of Buenavista del Norte, Los Silos, El Tanque, Garachico, Icod de los Vinos, La Guancha, San Juan de la Rambla, Los Realejos, La Orotava, Santa Úrsula, La Victoria de Acentejo, La Matanza de Acentejo, El Sauzal, Tacoronte, San Cristóbal de la Laguna, Tegueste, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and El Rosario grade 2 measures will be applied.

Thus, the following activities are permitted:

  • Hunting activity without shotguns and training
  • Staying in the mountains and walking through trails, forest paths, or cross-country
  • Travel on insular roads and municipal communication routes
  • Travel by bicycle or on horseback along forest paths (consult the TenerifeON map)
  • Property owners accessing their properties and infrastructures
  • Ordinary activities outside the fire risk area

On the other hand, the following activities are prohibited:

  • Lighting fires outdoors: bonfires, stoves, barbecues, gas cookers and similar.
  • Firework displays
  • Use of machinery and tools that produce sparks
  • Logging
  • Motor vehicles on forest trails for recreational purposes (TenerifeON)
  • Use of recreational areas, camping zones and campsites (consult TenerifeON)
  • Sporting events and pilgrimages on forest paths and cross-country
  • Hunting activities with shotguns across the island

  • Travel on insular roads and municipal communication routes
  • Travel by bicycle or on horseback along forest paths
  • Property owners accessing their properties and infrastructures
