Aeroplane Connectivity Evolves
The air connectivity between the Archipelago and the Peninsula continues to progress, with one of the most sought-after routes for residents about to make a historic leap.
This change will not only increase frequencies but also expand connections with other islands and national destinations.
The announcement follows a strategic agreement between the Canary airline Binter and Asturias, aimed at boosting tourism in both regions.
New Direct Connections
From October 2026, Binter will operate daily direct flights from Asturias to Tenerife North and Gran Canaria all year round.
Gradually, the airline will increase the frequencies to establish this permanent service.
In the first phase, starting from October this year, there will be five weekly flights to each destination, increasing to six between March and October 2027, before establishing daily connections.
The airline will offer 3,696 weekly seats, ensuring that at least 65% of passengers are Canary residents.
Joint Tourism Promotion
The Asturian Government will invest €363,000 annually in a promotional agreement for the region’s tourist resources in the Canaries.
The campaign will include advertisements in airports, VIP lounges, digital media, social networks, and within the Binter fleet, featuring promotional elements on headrests, brochures, and luggage racks.
Moreover, Asturias will have a presence in the airline’s corporate magazine, reaching a target audience of frequent island travellers and mainland tourists.
Impact on Tourism
With this expansion, Asturias will have daily flights to the nine main national markets: Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Malaga, Valencia, Alicante, Mallorca, Tenerife North, and Gran Canaria.
Since 2019, connections with the Canaries have continuously increased, achieving a 79.6% rise in the number of tourists from the Archipelago over the last five years.
This measure not only strengthens air offerings but also positions both regions as strategic destinations for domestic tourism in Spain.
