The Civil Guard belonging to the Fiscal and Border Section of the Tenerife North Airport-Ciudad de La Laguna, has arrested a 53-year-old man and resident of Arona, who was about to leave the Island, accused of a continuing theft offence.
The events occurred when, during the checked baggage control, it was found that a suitcase contained numerous electronic devices. This led to the identification of the suitcase’s owner, in whose presence the suitcase was opened.
Inside, 89 electronic devices were located (88 high-end smartphones and a tablet), with no ability to justify their provenance. During the search of the luggage, a package was found concealed in a double bottom of one of the suitcases, containing €11,000 and £1,045 in cash. Additionally, this individual was carrying over €9,000 in cash in their hip bag.

Attempting to flee to the Peninsula
The accused was preparing to leave the Island heading to the Peninsula. When the agents investigated to clarify the facts, they found that many of the smartphones appeared in databases as stolen, leading to the seizure of all devices as well as the cash amounting to €21,246, and the arrest of the accused.
The detainee, along with the report prepared, has been placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court Number 4 of San Cristóbal de La Laguna.
