Tenerife Council allocates over three million to enhance habitats and manage invasive species.

The Cabildo of Tenerife will invest €3.1 million for the conservation of wildlife, habitat improvement, and control of invasive species.

The island government council approved on Wednesday the commissioning of the public company Gesplan for the execution of these works, which will last for three years.

The objective of the commission is to establish a set of measures for management, through actions that contribute to the conservation of individuals and populations, and the control of invasive wildlife species that pose a threat to the native biological diversity and natural heritage of the island.

This initiative is part of the Island Biodiversity Strategy, a tool aimed primarily at ensuring the preservation of nature.

Among the commitments, ambitions, and objectives pursued from the scientific field is the improvement of information and knowledge of the environment, both terrestrial and marine, as well as monitoring species and habitats and accessibility to information.
