The National Police have referred a middle-aged man to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation. He turned up early on Friday with a simulated firearm at a gym in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Sources from the provincial police station have detailed to EFE that the man pointed the simulated weapon at himself and that officers managed to subdue him before taking him to a medical facility.
Televisión Canaria reports that, in addition to himself, he aimed at several trainers at the gym, located in the neighbourhood of Ofra.
The National Police received the alert at 8:20 a.m., and from there, a response team was activated, which concluded without any injuries.
