The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a yellow warning for high temperatures in the Canary Islands, which will come into effect on Sunday, with the greatest impact expected between 10:00 and 19:00 hours.
Currently, the risk only affects Gran Canaria, where temperatures could reach 34 degrees Celsius, primarily in the Tejeda and Tirajana basins, as well as in the southern and western midlands of the Island.
Additionally, temperatures will reach 32 degrees Celsius in Tenerife and 30 degrees Celsius in extensive areas of interior Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
AEMET’s Forecast for the Canary Islands on Saturday
AEMET predicts mostly clear or slightly cloudy skies, except for intervals during the early morning along the coasts. Minimum temperatures will remain unchanged or slightly decrease, while maximum temperatures will see a slight increase, particularly in inland areas.
Winds will be light and variable, with predominance of breezes along the coasts. In the highlands, winds will be light to moderate from the southwest, except in the high peaks of Tenerife, where winds will be strong during the second half of the day.
